Discussion Questions for Mindy Kaling's 'Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?'

1. Grade the book, A-F.

2. Compared to other memoirs you've read, how does this one stack up?

3. What was your favorite essay in the book? Why?

4. What parts did you find most relatable?

5. To what do you attribute Mindy's success in Hollywood? Her passion? Her ambition? Pure Talent? Luck?

6. Are there deeper themes to the book as a whole, or is it just a light-hearted, funny read?

7. Did you find any relevant career advice?

8. Is Mindy a good role model? Is she one of your's?

9. A lot of Mindy's humor is self-deprecating. Do you think she is too hard on herself? If so, does that perhaps speak to the pressure of celebrity?

10. What is the deal with young celebs writing memoirs? Are you over it? Who would you want to see come out with one?

That JCrew Gingham Shirt

There have been some ridiculous social media accounts out there in past years.  A few relate to features or "assets" of celebrities (e.g. this after Oscars 2012), others are notable TV characters. No matter what, they seem to be created by people with far too much time on their hands.  At any rate, let's be real and admit they can be entertaining.

The latest obscure social media account has to be @ThatJCrewGinghamShirt.  As a classic staple in a guy's wardrobe, particularly one in New England, we've all see this shirt.  It flatters most, it's lighter than flannel and is pretty much seasonless.  Now, it's wearers are being captured from all over and shared via instagram, because, I guess, why not?  Let's hope this ridiculousness continues!

Dreamy Denim from Urban Outfitters

As avid readers of the stylish blog, They All Hate Us, we JUGs have become quite the fans of distressed denim and how veristile the look can be. Paired with a peplum top and heels and you're shabby chic glam. Paired with sneakers and a comfy tee or sweater and your the real American girl.

So, what's not to love? Um, making them! If you're like me, I hate buying jeans and trying to distress them myself. Not only is there the risk factor in the possibility of wasting money on your newly ruined pair of jeans, but it also takes a lot of effort and generally comes out looking forced.

Luckily this fall Urban Outfitters has the answer to our distressed denim dreams. With numerous options of BDG ripped jeans (all under $100), we're set for fall. My top picks to buy: this white pair and this light wash pair.

I can't wait for tailgate season. I'm busting out the white pair with a comfy gray sweater and my black slip on vans, fo' sho!

Flash Tattoos

Last week, Cam, Suz and I attended an even hosted by Nine West to introduce their new line and collaboration with InStyle magazine.  Although the shoes were major, we were also very much into the flash tattoo table.  This trend is a great one to try, especially if you're like me and have never been ready to commit to a tattoo for longer than the great 3-4 day staying power of flash.  The metallic colors appear more like jewelry than something stamped onto your body and for short money!

What do you think, will you be trying this trend?

Apartment Envy: Dreams + Jeans

How adorable is this East Village apartment? It belongs to Alex Yeske, blogger behind Dreams+Jeans and graphic designer for Madewell. As her first shared apartment with her boyfriend, I think they do an excellent job of creating a clean and open gender neutral living space, don't you? Check out the full apartment tour on Design*Sponge here.

Latest Obsessions: Jungalow Planters

1. Himmeli Hanging Planter, $57
2. Kati Von Lehman Etched Planter, $65
3. 4 Tier Rope Planter, $125
4. Delphi Blue Hanging Planter, $80

After drooling over these two inspiration rooms on pinterest, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and use a few hanging planters to give my North End apartment a modern jungalow vibe! The good news is that if these planters are too expensive for ya, there are tons of DIY tutorials on pinterest too....maybe a good craft night idea?!

I have been waiting in anticipation for a while to post about one of my favorite daily reads, House of Turquoise, by turquoise-lover Erin Moser out of Minnesota.  As a fellow admirer of home decor and also one somewhat turquoise-obsessed, I am constantly bookmarking Erin's posts that feature various homes and design projects across the globe.  She offers some serious inspiration and the oceanic theme is one that always draws me in.  Too much of a good thing is a great thing in this case!

It sure doesn't hurt that a good amount of posts are in New England and/or have that New England influence.  Call me sheltered (no pun intended), but I will swoon over shingled siding any day!  To boot, Erin's Pinterest page welcomes countless visual candy, with a full dose of turquoise, just the way I prefer it to be!
