Daily Read: The Conversation, Amanda de Cadenet

Amanda de Cadenet, photographer and former TV personality is back, in a big way!  This Brit returned to television with a show called The Conversation for Lifetime.  I just discovered the episodes online via Amanda's website, and her descriptions of the show being a way for women to "help navigate their lives," and a "universal language for women," are completely accurate.  The celebrity lineup is great, too, and the honest dialogue is reassurance that even celebrities have issues with self, relationships and health.

The web series is addicting, be sure to start an episode today!  It seems like Amanda is onto something fantastic.  We can't wait to see what else she has to come!

Daily Read: Sequins & Stripes

There's so much I want to share with you about Liz Schneider, creator of the popular blog Sequins and Stripes, but for everyones sake I'll keep this Daily Read short.

I've been following Sequins and Stripes since I first started reading blogs back in 2011, right around the time when Liz first launched her first post. She started on the scene with a cute blog that posted outfit ideas she put together for clients from her newly emerging stylist business, and I thought that was so incredibly inspiring and brave. It wasn't everyday that I heard about someone my age starting their own fashion business, especially when the blogging and stylist arena had not reached the popularity and level of respect that it has today.
Over the past three years Liz has continued to be an inspiration. We have watched her blossom from a small business to a virtual friend and style advisor to thousands. It's honestly remarkable how she still finds time to keep up with her blog and frequently contribute to some of the most respected brands like Refinery29 and Kate Spade
Trust us when we say that you should add Liz to your Daily Read list. Not only is she a fierce business woman and career inspiration, but she has impeccable taste and will help you refine your everyday glam. You can find her amazing fashion picks on her blog here and get even more updates on her instagram here. And of course, watch out for her upciming collaborations!

Daily Read: Tuula Vintage

No, Jessica Stein is not a model.  She is a mid-twenties beauty from Australia with a serious case of wanderlust and someone with the best. job. ever.  She left the real estate world in 2010 and started an online visual diary, easy to see why she has built a solid following over the past four years!

Jess travels the world for fashion shoots and documents everything for her blog, Tuula Vintage.  The title was chosen based on the word "wind" in Finnish, which describes her lifestyle as a traveling fashionista.  Her statement is made in designer pieces, and she keeps accessories to a minimum.  I love seeing the various cities and landscapes that she visits.

Tuula Vintage feeds my daily case of wanderlust!

Daily Read: Ecorazzi

As much as we hate to admit it, we all love celebrity gossip. Whether you flip through a People at the nail salon or are a daily-watcher of E! News, celebrity tidbits add a bit of drama to our everyday real people lives. Unfortunately, celebrities are often highlighted for negative things - breakups, fights, inappropriate tweets, and questionable fashion choices. So it may be offputting to hear that some celebrities are actually doing good things with their time! One of my favorite blogs, Ecorazzi, shares stories of celebs that are environmentalists, animal rights activists, and human rights advocates. This is gossip you can truly feel good about reading. It promotes accomplishments rather than failures, and is often inspiring to read.

Mini Daily Read: Nina Garcia's Pinterest Boards

In the spirit of summer and being outside instead of on our computers, we are continuing on with our "Mini" Daily Read series and this week's feature is on the ever-so-stylish Nina Garcia and her pinterest boards.

Many of us know Garcia for her role as the tough judge on Project Runway, but previous to the show her resume built up to be quite the laundry list of accomplishments. It is from her experience at top fashion magazines like Elle and Marie Claire that Garcia has gained the utmost respect from every gal out there, from the "it" girls to the fashionably clueless, and it's because of this we can turn to her for inspiration.

While I could spend hours devoting to combing her pinterest boards, I am deeming this a "Mini Daily Read" because many times throughout the week I visit Garcia's many style boards for quick, easy and complete work and weekend attire ideas. Running late for a meeting but not sure what to pair with your outfit? Check out one of her many accessory boards. Not sure how to wear a latest trend? Check out her outfit boards conveniently categorized by trend.

All you have to do is follow Nina Garcia on Pinterest and you're ready for a stylish day. You're welcome.

Pssst, fun fact: Garcia attended the Dana Hall School in Wellesley!

Daily Read: The Londoner

Rose Thomas is the girl-next-door type lifestyle blogger whose life you (I) covet.  Finding The Londoner was such a treat for me, it's a nice daily reminder of my time studying abroad in London during college, x amount of years ago.  [[Full disclosure, I would move to London tomorrow if I could.]]

Rosie's log of daily adventures are chock full of drool-worthy images, whether she be at Harrod's, in Kensington Gardens, at the local pub or elsewhere, which could be all over the world.  She seems to be stateside in NYC often, and chronicles the city in a new light I don't see replicated elsewhere in the blog world that captures the essence of the city.

In my opinion, Rosie has impeccable taste in clothing, accessories and, food!  You need to start following her Instagram account immediately, if not sooner.  Rosie may have a modelesque figure and amazing Kate Middleton brunette locks, but girlfriend keeps it real with her online life journal.  Aside from a passport anyone would envy, her friendly humor is evident in her writing, too.  You can't help to want to go grab a pint with her!

Daily Read: I Suwannee

Unlike other blogs, I can't go a day without checking up on the Southern gem that is Jamie Mears, an interior designer, blogger, and owner of the online retail shop, Furbish Studio. All three exhibit not only her unique, ecclectic style but her daring flair for life. Mixing multiple bold patterns with bright colors, Jamie takes a fun spin on tradition items and accomplishes some of the most gorgeous rooms and pieces that one would previously have thought unthinkable. Don't beileve me or in need of some flair in your life? Check out Jamie's blog I Suwannee for yourself!

After you've decided you must live more like Jamie, hop on over to Furbish Studio, where you'll find no shortage of great decor items or gifts, one of a kind pop up shops and some great deals on refurbished vintage items. A new pop up shop with Sarah Martinez launched yesterday and I'm sure there will be a Memorial Day Sale on the horizon as well...

Daily Read: The Daily Love

As someone who always loved (and collected) quotes as a child, The Daily Love became an automatic daily read for me.  The Daily Love is a source of inspiration, happiness and, as the name suggests, love.  The blog's creator and author, Mastin Kipp, used to drink the LA cool-aid as a hard core partier, drug user and practically lost it all.  His life made an abrupt turn for the better after starting yoga and tweeting inspirational quotes, one day, RTed by Kim Kardashian, multiplying 1,000 followers to 10,000 in a matter of minutes.  Soon after, Mastin was discovered by Oprah's team, and he has been featured on her "Super Soul Sunday" series.  Mastin's new celebrity status is a true success story, and it is clear he continues to spread the love!  It's no surprise that some of this wisdom will transfer to book form as of this fall, too!

The Daily Love has taught me to better accept others and how to deal with especially negative people who were purely toxic to my own life.  Each author's philosophies are simple, but really resonate through the obvious caring truth behind each blog post.  Some of my favorites include:

A few months ago, I read a blog post on TDL that explained a tour in many major US cities, including Boston.  I knew I wanted to be a part of this event, and, more importantly, include one of the closest people in my life, my aunt and godmother who was the first to introduce me to yoga.  We're attending the workshop this weekend, and I am very much looking forward to some yoga, clarity and cleansing!

Bring some love into your daily life, and subscribe!

Daily Read: The Chalkboard Mag

This week's daily read is one of my favorite healthy living and style resources. The Chalkboard Mag was founded by the team at Pressed Juicery, but Chalkboard has taken on a life of its own and doesn't seem like a promotional blog at all. Instead, the Chalkboard is a hub of information on fitness, interior design, nutrition, and beauty. One of my favorite columns on the site is "Toxic Timeout" which details the possible risks of chemicals we come into contact with via food or personal care products. It also doesn't hurt that the blog features an impeccable design and pin-worthy photography.

The diversity of their content gives many reasons to come back. I follow their RSS on my feedly reader so I can keep up to date on multiple topics. They have fabulous interviews and collaborations with artists, doctors, celebrities and more.

Daily Read: Luella and June

Bradley Agather Means is a woman who does. it. all.  The Dallas-based blogger and magazine fashion editor (at only 27!) shares her daily musings via beauty, clothing and lifestyle finds any gal can relate to.  Bradley's blog, Luella & June, presents her curated picks with readers.  I just cannot get enough, which is why she is one of my favorite daily reads!

It is easy to see why others agree, Bradley has been featured on The EverygirlBarney's New York (her 2012 picks are still on trend!) and more.  Her 2013 wedding was incredibly chic, and I could read her articles for hours, especially what she would take from her closet in the event of a fictitious fire... a true fashionista!  Be sure to join us in reading Luella & June daily for some of the best home, lifestyle and fashion forecasting around!

Daily Read: The Awear Project

Today's Daily Read isn't a blog per se, rather, its the web-home of an entire social movement. AWEAR 2014, founded by Kestrel Jenkins, aims to shift the consciousness of apparel consumers. For years, fast fashion and trendy designers have dominated the market, but we are quickly finding that this is not socially or environmentally responsible. AWEAR invites fashionistas from around the globe to submit their "AWEAR-ready" looks for a chance to be featured on their site, blog, and social media accounts.

AWEAR ready outfits can be looks by eco designers, something you found at a thrift shop, or even something you've designed yourself. If this sounds intimidating, simply start by scrolling threw their list of Style Icons for some great outfit inspiration!

We also love the AWEAR motto: Inspiring stylish change, one real person at a time.
Can't wait to assemble some of my fair trade accessories, vintage apparel, and cruelty free shoes to create an AWEAR outfit of my own.

While we're on the topic of conscious consumerism, mark your calendars - Fashion Revolution Day is 4/24/2014. FRD encourages people to wear their clothing inside out for one day so that the tags showing where your garments are made are readily visible. As a society, we often buy clothing without thinking about the journey that garment took before getting to us, so Fashion Revolution Day is a great reminder of the hard work that is put into everything we buy. On 24th April last year, 1133 people were killed and over 2500 were injured when the Rana Plaza clothing factory complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. By joining the FRD movement, you can show that slave labor and unsafe working environments are unacceptable.

Mini Daily Read: Katie Armour's Pinterest Boards

Sometimes keeping up with all your blogs can be quite an overwhelming task, especially when you follow numerous blogs that post more than one article a day. On days when I don't have time to read every ounce of new content on my Feedly account, I like to take a quick spin through Pinterest for a smaller dose of inspiration. For me, pins are little visual cues on what people are buzzing about in the blogosphere, and a great way for me to quickly check my daily reads on the go on days when I just can't take a breather.

For today's "Mini" Daily Read I am sharing one of my most favorite pinners, Katie Armour, author of The Neo-Traditionalist blog and co-founder and editor of Matchbook Magazine. Curating pins from her own sources of inspiration as well as the latest issue of Matchbook, Katie is sure to keep you up to date on the most recent trends out there. She has an impeccable eye for traditional-gone-mod decor and a tomboy fashion style that would make even the most cautious debate cutting off their hair. Don't believe me? Take a look!

Happy reading (and pinning), JUGs! Want to follow us on Pinterest? Check out our boards here.

Daily Read: My Ideal Home

Out of the countless blogs I read daily, I often bookmark posts from My Ideal Home.  The name says it all, aspects of a dream abode!  As young professionals who live in the city, we don't have time (or reasons, really) to snoop in homes other than what is on HGTV.  Working in the real estate business has always made me curious to look at different spaces.  My Ideal Home, a blog based in Italy, presents an infinite collection of inspiring home decor.  It is no surprise that the author, Valentina, has nearly 20,000 pinterest followers.  There are so many airy, neutral, bright and clean habitats.  Let's hope she keeps it up, I don't want the daydreaming to end!
