More Summer Vacation Ideas

For me most summer weekends are spent outside of Boston either in Cohasset or Nantucket, but recently I have been looking to mix up my usual summer routine. Last week I was more than excited to hear that Newport, RI is now offering ferry services to Block Island, a small island 13 miles off the coast of Rhode Island. Running three times a day - 9 am, 12:05pm, and 6:45pm, the fast ferry zooms you off the mainland in just 70 minutes, and for just $50.

Now I personally have never been to Block Island, but with this news my boyfriend and I have already starting planning a September weekend trip filled with beach time, lighthouse tours, sight seeing and more. Have you been to Block Island? Share your tips with us!

Its mid-July: the peak of summer. Time to narrow down your summer to-do list! Here is the weekly JUGs guide to what is going on this week.

 

K E E P  C O O L

It is going to be a hot one so, for those of you without adequate air conditioning, I suggest checking out Despicable Me 2 - I've heard it is even better than the first. And since it will definitely be too hot to be using the oven, its the perfect time to hit up Remy's in the Seaport District for some grub while catching the game (and keeping an eye out for cute boys, of course).  I also plan to enjoy some AC at the MFA this week because I am dying to check out the new Hippie Chic exhibit.

 

T A L K  O F  T H E  T O W N

The JUGs were still reeling with the news of not guilty verdict for George Zimmerman when we heard the tragic news that Glee's Cory Monteith had passed. What a terrible loss for the acting community, and another reminder of the all-too-common outcome of drug use.

 

On an upnote, Kate is going to drop that royal baby bomb any time now! We CANNOT WAIT to hear if its a prince or a princess!!!!!

Sunday's True Confession: I Get off the T (Almost) Every Morning for Starbucks

Okay, self-diagnosed coffee addict here. I buy an unlimited T-pass each month ($70) which I use to its full extent by getting off mid-way for a Starbucks stop.  In order to get to work, I have to change lines anyhow, so, the T pass pays for itself, right?!  If you see me on Newbury around 9:45am, you now know why...
